for Lynda

project 365: day 68: oyster shells for Lynda

day 68: the sea inside

i took these pictures on a whim, very late at night. i was not optimistic about this work but i really like what came out of it. these oyster shells remind me of my aunt Lynda. she reminds me of the ocean. even out of the ocean for so long these shells carry the weight of the sea inside...

project 365: day 67: lick!

day 67: late night lick

this was taken minutes before we went to bed. despite my best efforts i missed another day:( i've been pushing it, but i promise to get better. i guess this is our little guy's way of saying "thank you for letting me sleep in your bed." haha:)

project 365: day 66: sweet life

day 66: trading places

we rescued this little guy from a shelter two weeks ago. looks like he got a pretty sweet deal...:)

the amazing self-cleaning dog; August

my brooklyn lover, Natalie, came up with her maltipoo named August. he always has amazing nature adventures with Jaco and today he learned to swim! he was soaking wet, the rolled in wet mud and dry leaves. as we walked he rolled in grass and dirt and grass and dirt until, poof! he was white again. still don't know how he did it...

project 365: day 65: iris

day 65: iris on the hudson

i worked my tushie off this Memorial Day weekend so i had to take photos with my iphone at work. at least i didn't miss any days. these are some gorgeous irises that grow by the water. i can only be so creative with the iphone...

project 365: day 64: uninspired

day 64: uuuuugggghhhh

it was late, i was tired and completely uninspired. this is what happens when you try to be artistic every day. ugh.

project 365: day 63: Smokey the Shiba Inu

day 63: three dogs in the house!

timothy and i were walking Jaco and Umberto on the trail when we saw this guy with no leash. we asked a couple people if he was theirs and everyone said 'no.' we took him home and he hung out on the back porch while we tried to contact his owners. needless to say Jaco was stomping around like a teenager wondering what the heck was going on. Smokey was cool, he looked like a fox and was friendly. we were definitely relieved when his owner picked him up later. what a zoo:)

project 365: day 62: my husband

day 62: big huge swing

timothy and i took the boys to Halsey Pond again and came back to this spot with the huge swing. the whole forest here has a Rip Van Winkle feeling. i love the light (and the man) in this shot.

project 365: day 61: minor blackout

day 61: blackout

last night at work we lost power in most of the restaurant. hardly anyone batted an eye. the customers could not have cared less, but, of course the owners were a little concerned. we lit a bunch of extra candles and passed them around. it was a pretty cool vibe.

project 365: day 60: blue cheese

day 60: this month's obsession

i have developed some pretty crazy cravings as a result of working in a high end restaurant. super moldy blue cheese is one, red wine and triple cream brie are others. this cheese above is Bayley Hazen Blue. it's dry, crumbly, salty, and the mold is sage-blue colored. the other day i toasted some whole wheat bread and made a green apple-brie sandwich. i think i ate it in 4 bites...yum

The Liver Foundation Walk/Fund Raiser

mackenzie, brave little girl

project 365: day 59: team mackenzie

day 59: first paying gig!

i was hired to shoot this event out on Long Island. it was a fund raising walking event in honor of The Liver Foundation. they raise money to do research for all things liver related. this is a picture of some members of Team Mackenzie. Mackenzie is about 10-11 years old and has two rare, and serious liver diseases. she was very cute, very lively and extroverted, and certainly very beautiful. great day, i was glad to be a part of it.

batting cages and more inappropriate humor!!!!

project 365: day 58: batting cages

day 58: sportime usa batting cages

my husband and i went to the batting cages today and had a blast! it was a pretty creepy, run down arcade in a town near to us and there were probably about 10 other people in the whole building. he taught me how to hit the ball and i did pretty well for my first time. my hands are killing me! can't wait to go back.

project 365: day 57: homemade beehive

day 58: a beehive on the inside

this awesomeness was in an Anthropology clothing store at the mall. it is chicken wire and rolled up papers. i would love to have one in my own house. love it.

project 365: day 56: closed door

day 56: friendly neighbor?

this was taken at night just around the corner from our apartment. i love walking around at night and looking into people's windows. such a voyeur.

i just painted my toes and wanted to show them off. looks like an old photo huh?

project 365: day 54: lilies for my mother

day 54: lily of the valley

these are one of my mom's favorite flowers. they are so lovely, so delicate, and smell gorgeous. this picture is for her.
love:)

project 365: day 53: lounging

day 53: a new home

i promise to be more creative in the coming days but look at this guy! how can you resist taking a picture of this little dude?! he is doing well and adjusting to his new home. Jaco, on the other hand, isn't so sure he likes the new addition:)

project 365: day 52: little Umberto Eco

day 52: oops...

this is what happens when you have two days off in a row with your husband and you finally decide to donate that pile of stuff that has been sitting around for a year to the local animal shelter. we said we would just 'look around.' i immediately fell in love with two pit bulls then we saw this little guy. he is a 9 month old, 4 lbs chihuahua. big name for a little guy! jaco is pretty confused but i think he will like his new brother.

project 365: day 51: heirloom tomatoes

day 51: trader joe's heirloom tomatoes

i could not resist these colors. i love pan roasting heirloom tomatoes with olive oil, salt and a little garlic. reminds me of summer. so good. me an timothy got these at Trader Joe's in Westchester. very cool store, good hippie vibes.

project 365: day 50: tired

day 50: tired

this was taken after a double shift. i was so tired but didn't want to skip another day:) i was looking back at the progress i have made with this project. it will be especially interesting to look back at the images when the year is through.

project 365: day 49: rest

day 49: rest, finally

self, taken after a long stretch of work. yuck. finally got around to posting this past weekend's pictures. SLACKER!

project 365: day 48: celebration

day 48: mazel tov!

we hosted a wedding at the restaurant this day and to my delight it was a Jewish ceremony. there is this ongoing joke between me and Timothy because i think i'm Jewish:) i love the religion, culture, food, antics, vocabulary...all of it and i am dying to travel to Israel. this wedding was a lot of fun, very intimate and relaxed. i was happy to be a part of it.

project 365: day 47: night dining

day 47: night lights

i was walking jaco late at night after a long double work shift. i love the street at night. i love when it's quiet on the street and you can look into busy restaurants and remain completely removed from the scene.

02 May 2009

project 365: day 46: going out

day 46: early bird special

this is us, ready to go out to dinner on a friday night. the best part is not only that jaco is very nervous that we are leaving, but also that this picture was taken at about 4:30pm. we made dinner reservations for 6. watch out, this is hardcore partying.
